Blind disk or flanged pipe plug is also called asBlind flange is like a flange cover. To seal the pipe opening Blind flange hasno holes in the center. Major Functionsof blind flange and where it is used

The major function of blind flange is to separate theproduction medium which is to prevent the shut-off valve closely and tightlyand to affect production and avoid causing accidents.

The blind flange is placed in locations where itrequires isolation such as the equipment nozzle which is located between thefront and rear of the shut-off valve or between two flanges. It is highlyrecommended to be used and for single use parts usually common round blindflange are single-use parts such as pressing and purging.

There are different manufacturing Types and Costs in Blind flange

There are four types which are Forging, casting andforging, medium plate cutting and casting. The costliest is Forging products,the second expensive is middle plate cutting and the last and cheapest iscasting and forging and the worst compared to other is casting type.

Forging and medium plates are the best qualityproducts whereas casting and forging are a bit lower quality compared toothers.

Casting Blind Flange

The casting flange is accurate in shape and it has asmall processing capacity along with low cost but the casting defects are therein air hole crack inclusions. The streamline is worse if it’s a cutting partand the streamline of the internal casting part is bad.

Forging Blind Flange

Compared to cast flange, the forge blind flange haslower carbon content and is not easy to rust. Compared to cast flange theforging has a better streamlined shape, denser structure and better mechanicalproperties.

The forging cast is more expensive than the castingflange and if the forging process is improper then the grain will be uneven andlarge which will cause hardening cracks on the materials.

When it comes to withstanding higher shear and tensileforce Forging is better than castings.
