They are a type of pipe flange that can be attached to the pipe without using solder. Internal threads on threaded flanges are the same as external threads on the pipe. Despite being available in a range of sizes and pressure ratings, the threaded flange arrangement is most frequently used for piping systems with a diameter of less than 4 inches. Typically, it only has non-toxic, low-pressure, and low-temperature systems as applications. The 1/2 to 2-inch range of threaded flanges is much more common than the range above 2-inch. Due of the decreased pressure, threaded flanges only have flat and raised faces.
